Best Italian Restaurants in Cyprus
The best Cyprus Italian Restaurants are as good as any others you will find in Europe (outside of Italy of course!) and no matter what your tastes, you are bound to find something you like on a good Italian menu.
You can find all the favourite Italian pizza dishes here in Cyprus, such as Margherita, Quattro Stagioni (Four Seasons), Quattro Formaggi (Four Cheeses) and Fiorentina(my personal favourite), plus lots of specialities.
The pasta menu is just as extensive, lasagnes are usually of a very good quality and of course you can never go wrong with Italian desserts! Popular Italian desserts you can find in Cyprus include biscotti, tiramisu and zabaglione. The ice creams offered might not quite match those found in Rome or Milan but they are still very good!
Here are a few of our favourite Italian restaurants in Cyprus:
Just Italian (Paralimni): Located on Kapparis Avenue in Paralimni, this restaurant has a range of meals and the prices vary greatly so it can suit every budget. The food was very fresh and I really liked my Margherita pizza. We also noticed that there were disabled facilities here.
Quadro (Ayia Napa): A nicely designed restaurant with simple, good Italian menu. The food was good quality and the place is a short walk from the main square.
Cavallini (Paphos): This is a classy place, with a friendly but laid-back atmosphere. The food was very nice and what you would expect from this sort of restaurant. They offer both Italian and Cypriot wines. We have been here twice and enjoyed everything we have tried so far. I particularly liked the porcini soup for starters and the tiramisu for dessert!
Best Mexican Restaurants in Cyprus
There are quite a few Cyprus Mexican restaurants dotted around the island. They vary in food quality, but all of them tend to be a lot of fun. Mexican restaurants in Cyprus have a great atmosphere, they play traditional music, and the waiters love to get you into the spirit of all things Mexican. For example, waiters will have no qualms about sticking you in a sombrero for photos!
We love Mexican food and you can find all the usual Mexican dishes that you would expect, such as fajitas, burritos, nachos, tacos and enchiladas in Cyprus. The Mexican desserts on offer aren’t really Mexican, but often a range of international desserts.
Remember Mexican food is often more filling than it looks so go easy when you order to start of with! These are our favourite Mexican restaurants in Cyprus:
ChiChi’s (Protaras): This is a lovely, friendly restaurant with a nice ambience that serves both Mexican dishes and local and international cuisine. It also offers meze at a very reasonable price. We would recommend the nachos here.
Los Bandidos (Ayia Napa): This is has a reputation for being the best Mexican restaurant on the island and it is easy to understand why. The food may not be Michelin star, but you get a good, filling meal, and fun entertainment.
I loved the guacamole dip, and the other half tried the shark steak and said it was very nice. The portions of everything are huge, and the whole atmosphere and decor are very enjoyable. Wash it all down with a jug of their strawberry margarita. In peak summer months you should book in advance or there will be a long wait for a table.
Best Chinese Restaurants in Cyprus
We love Chinese food, but it takes a bit of effort to find really great Cyprus Chinese restaurants. It’s not that there is anything really wrong with them, many are decent enough, it’s just that they often lack authentic dishes and ingredients.
A good Chinese menu in Cyprus will usually offer nice dim sum such as dumplings, so this should help you decide whether to eat at a Chinese restaurant in Cyprus or not. You can find the all most popular meals in Cyprus that you would choose at home, from sweet and sour dishes to a wide range of noodle dishes.
Many Chinese desserts that you find on menus are western-style dishes rather than authentic ones, because as you probably know, the Chinese mainly eat fruit for dessert. Banana fritters are quite popular in Chinese restaurants on the island, and they are usually very good.
Our two favourite Chinese restaurants in Cyprus are:
Jade Garden (Paralimni): I really liked this restaurant; my only issue was that there was no vegetarian soup option. I very occasionally have seafood so I had the crab meat soup which was delicious. Other than that a great restaurant with very tasty food.
Chloe’s Chinese Restaurant (Paphos): There are actually two of these in Paphos – one by the harbour with sea views, and a newer one opposite Tombs of the Kings. We liked both, and although the prices aren’t as cheap as some Chinese restaurants in Cyprus, we enjoyed eating at Chloe’s. Not everything on the menu is authentic, but it is all very tasty and this is definitely one of the best Paphos restaurants.
