Visit Los Montesinos
Los Montesinos is a little town inland (South Alicante), just above the Torrevieja Salt Lake, that combines both the modern and the Spanish traditions, and can offer a lively and spirited time in the Costa Blanca region.
Montesinos has been in existence since the time of the Roman Empire, and in fact, a Roman road courses right through the town. Agriculture has always been important in this region, especially as regards citrus groves, although as the tourism industry has flourished, this has become at least as important. There is quite a large community of expatriates in the area too.
There are plenty of modern accommodations for either short or long term stays, and the restaurants, bars, and cafes offer regional fare. Shopping is fun too, and after a day of browsing the shops, it will be fun to relax in the town square, perhaps sipping a glass of wine at an outdoor café.
The Torrevieja Salt Lake is very close and there is a nature walk through the preserve that will provide a glimpse of the wildlife and natural vegetation of the area. The beaches along the Costa Blanca are a short drive away.
The main Festival or Fiesta in Montesinos is held in October and basically every resident comes out to the Park for an amazing outdoor party. There is a medieval street market too where you´ll be able to do some nice shopping.
